School Travels

Jan 20th, 2013

For my Digital Audio/Video class we had to make two videos of our trip from home to school: one had to be abstract and one had to be realistic. For the abstract video I tried finding roads with the exact same shape as the road I take every day, which resulted in eight roads from all over the world. Using Google Streetview I made eight stopmotions, each depicting the same road somewhere else in the world. I had to screenshot the entire thing by hand, which resulted in over 11000 screenshots, which is a total 54GB of screenshots. By presenting all of those videos side by side a super wide panorama was created. The realistic videos were made by mimicking the way Google makes Streetview: together with two friends I taped three iPhones to the sides of the bus.
